Sarah Nelson is a visual artist living and working in New Orleans, LA and Martha's Vineyard, MA. Her recent work focuses on the abstract and emotive qualities of the sky, and how visual quality of atmosphere works in conjuncture with the imagery from the natural and urban landscape.
Ms. Nelson is currently a faculty member at the New Orleans Glassworks and Printmaking Studio and has recently participated in 2015 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Contemporary Crafts Exhibition. She is the recipient of the University of New Hampshire’s Museum of Art’s Fellowship and Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship, a self-written university research grant that explored the relationship between en plein air landscape painting and sustainable agricultural methods in New England.
Her work is shown in galleries, private residences, and public collections throughout the nation, recently gaining a permanent display at the new Louisiana State University Hospital, among others. She studied Painting and Printmaking at the University of New Hampshire and is a current member of the Where Y’Art artist collective in New Orleans.
